“I had no idea what Chiropractic was, until it changed my life…..

Why I became a Chiropractor

I didn’t set out to become a Chiropractor. In fact, I had my dream job at TSN in marketing this brand-new sports network across Canada. But when I began developing headaches, allergies and feeling not very well, I told my friend Julie about it. She said, “Go see my dad, he’ll help you.” Since nothing else had worked to help me feel better, I asked, “What does your dad do?” “He’s a Chiropractor,” and with those three words, my life changed. I went to see Julie’s dad, Dr. Donald Moore of Oakville, Ontario and he opened my eyes to the potential of health I had within.

It was if he knew a secret about me from the inside out, and with each adjustment a little bit more of my inner health was revealed. My headaches and allergies went away, my energy increased, I started running better and I began to feel like myself again. It didn’t take long to resign from my position and return to school. Seven years later, I graduated from Chiropractic College eager to help people in the way Dr. Moore had helped me.

Chiropractic Education

After three years of completing the prerequisite courses required for Chiropractic school, I attended Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Each day, I was overwhelmed by how much we needed to learn to one day (someday!) serve our patients: developmental anatomy, nutrition, pathology, radiology, anatomy, histology, physiology, neuroanatomy, statistics, biomechanics, adjusting technique, psychology–the list went on and on for four years! The most difficult course for me was anatomy, because until that point in my life, I never even thought about how I was made, how all the various cells and tissues worked, nor how they all worked together. But the most amazing experience for me in the program was my first day as an intern–now I was responsible for helping people with their health care needs. To this day, I have never forgotten what a privilege and honour this is.

Away from Sunshine Valley Family Chiropractic

When I’m not in the office, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with my friends and family. My husband, Stu Wells, is the former Mayor of Osoyoos and through his involvement over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet many people and learn more about this great town we call home. We are blessed with two beautiful grand daughters. I serve as a volunteer on the Board of the Osoyoos and District Museum and Archives and chair the Legacy Committee, entrusted to raise the funding to build our new museum. I love reading about health and wellness, golfing, running, stand up paddling and walking my little dog, Zoey.

Chiropractic Care

I have a great chiropractor whom I see weekly. She helps me stay well, keeps my energy up and helps me feel good over all. Once I started getting adjusted, my mom and dad did too, and my dad received chiropractic care until he passed away at 90. My mom gets adjusted every other week and is going strong! I feel that too many people believe that better health comes through better drugs, but medications just mask problems and don’t correct underlying problems. That’s what I love the most about Chiropractic care, it doesn’t mask the problem, it helps the body come alive!

Enough about me! Thanks for visiting our site. I look forward to meeting you in person and learning how we may be of service to you. Give our Osoyoos office a call, or email me using the link below and let’s help you take your first step towards better health.
